Job description

The Multi-Donor-Action ‘Capacity for Development (C4N)’ is a component of the ‘Knowledge for Nutrition (K4N)’ programme. K4N aims to support the European Commission (EC), its partners as well as the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) with competence and knowledge to inform nutrition-related programmes and policies through evidence-based approaches and strategies. C4N aims to strengthen capacities to enhance the knowledge base of the EC, EU Delegations, EU Member States and partner countries to advance the combat against all forms of malnutrition. C4N is a key element of the EC’s ‘Nutrition for Development Programme (N4D)’, which underpins the implementation of the EU ‘Action Plan for Nutrition (APN)’.

Your tasks

  • Management and overall coordination of the C4N component
  • Coordinate the overall process of providing technical expertise and advice to EU Delegations and national governments (via requests from EU Delegations) and to DEVCO C1 unit (EU Organisation) on overall nutrition related topics and projects
  • Serve as principal back-stopper for staff and consultants working on C4N assignments and ensure that activities are carried out according to the approved work plan and budget
  • Facilitate the knowledge exchange with the K4N team based in Bonn (Germany)
  • Ensure financial and results-based monitoring of the C4N component according to rules and regulations of the donors
  • Identify and mobilise short-term and long-term experts for assignments, oversee their travel and preparation of contracts
  • Networking and coordination of other implementing partners and donors
  • Upon request, support EC engagement in global events related to nutrition

Your profile:

  • University degree in nutrition, public health, food security, public policy or relevant discipline or the equivalent of five years relevant experience in nutrition in external assistance / development cooperation
  • Long-standing professional experience and demonstrated practical skills in project
    coordination / management with progressively increasing levels of responsibility
  • Several years of experience in covering the formulation, implementation and/or evaluation of policies, programmes and projects; both multi-sectoral nutrition sensitive and nutrition specific
  • Several years of experience related to the EU development policy and a good knowledge of EC development cooperation programmes and procedures
  • Several years of experience in high-level coordination related to the above described professional skills
  • Existing networks and contacts into the development and humanitarian realm in the field of nutrition (social protection is a plus)
  • Excellent drafting and oral presentation skills
  • Mastery language skills in English (C2) and effective operational proficiency language skills in French (C1)
